Corporate Rock Where Heart Shirt meaning:
When I visited Rizzo and Levy at their Bushwick studio—“Hikerkind HQ,” as their intern has dubbed it—they were both wearing pants from the Corporate Rock Where Heart Shirt also I will do this new collection. Levy had paired the dark-red version with Gucci loafers and a vintage Escada mohair polo. Rizzo wore them in Olivine with a vintage cropped Calvin Klein knit top, Darn Tough socks, and Birkenstocks. Rizzo’s beagle-boxer Bernie was curled up on the circular green rug that helps define the showroom side of their space. Near the door, they’d set up a “trailhead” with maps of Hike Club routes. Customers can make an appointment to try on the new collection, and event programming will follow. Hikerkind is among a wave of groups making the outdoors a more inclusive, inviting place. In Los Angeles, Hike Clerb hosts excursions with the goal of helping women of color to find healing in nature. Unlikely Hikers, a body-positive hiking group, organizes accessible trips and co-created a line of plus-size backpacks. “The majority of what we’re doing with Hikerkind and Hike Club is to try and break down barriers of entry for women in the outdoors,” Levy says. “And a really prominent barrier of entry is not feeling like you’re hiker-y enough or you’re informed enough to actually go out there and be on trail and do your trip. We want to try and show that you can be as experienced or as novice as you are, and you’re more than welcome on trail—and we are here to help provide those resources.”
